The step that sends up to 10 swipeable cards: the order you add them in, how the two channels differ, how the outputs are spread across cards, and the common mistakes.
When you need to show someone three products, three packages or three branches at once, sending three messages in a row is both slow and confusing. The Gallery step sends swipeable cards instead: people swipe through them and pick the one they want. This guide covers how to build a gallery, how it differs between the two channels, and how many cards you can really use.
💡 If you only have one thing to present, The Card step is enough; the fields are identical.
What it does
A gallery is an ordered list of cards that all share the same structure. Every card has its own image, title, subtitle and up to three buttons. The person browses the cards and taps a button on the one they like; the flow continues from that button's output.
It works best for picking things: a product (three models, three prices), a plan (monthly, yearly, business), a branch or a date.
How each channel behaves
The gallery is sent on both channels, but it is not the same thing on each:
Instagram shows the cards side by side in one message (the generic-template carousel). One message carries at most 10 cards.
WhatsApp has no carousel: the cards are sent one after another, separately. A three-card gallery means three messages on WhatsApp.
⚠️ Note: If WhatsApp is connected to your account and the gallery holds more than one card, the pre-publish check warns you. The warning does not block publishing, but build it knowing that people on WhatsApp will receive several messages back to back — keep the card count low so you do not run into the consecutive-send limit.
Settings
The gallery has one section: the card list. Add cards with Add card and remove them with Remove card. Cards are sent in the order you add them and are labelled Card 1, Card 2 and so on.
Each card carries the same fields as the Card step:
Title — up to 80 characters, placeholders allowed.
Subtitle — up to 80 characters, placeholders allowed.
Image URL — a public address starting with https. May be left empty.
Buttons — up to 3 per card, labels up to 20 characters; Continue the flow or Link.

You can have at least 1 and at most 10 cards. With no cards at all the pre-publish check reports an error.
At run time, cards whose title, subtitle and image are all empty are dropped from the list. A card you left half-finished will not break the gallery; it simply is not sent.
Its outputs
A gallery's outputs come from the Continue the flow buttons on all of its cards. Five such buttons give you five outputs, each named after its button.
If no card has a Continue the flow button, the gallery has a single Next output.
You can use the same button label on two cards, but it causes confusion: two outputs on the canvas carry the same name and you cannot tell which card they belong to. Name buttons after their card (Small plan, Medium plan) — the check also warns when it sees the same label twice.
An example
A yoga studio wants to present its three membership plans.
They connect all three button outputs to an Action step, each writing a different tag (plan-trial, plan-monthly, plan-yearly).
After the actions they add one shared Message step: "Great, we will call you shortly."
The result: the person swipes through three plans, picks one, and the studio knows from the tag who looked at what.
Common mistakes
Using ten cards because you can. The technical limit is 10, but nobody swipes through ten. Three to five cards work best; for anything longer, have people pick a category first with a Condition or a message with buttons.
Leaving the cards without buttons. A button-less gallery looks nice but does not move the flow along: it gets a single Next output and you never learn which card interested the person.
Leaving some button outputs unconnected. The person taps that button and nothing happens. The check lists every empty button output as a warning.
Treating the WhatsApp gallery as a carousel. On WhatsApp every card is its own message. A five-card gallery means five messages and gets close to the consecutive-send limit.
Making it the first step of a comment flow. The first message out of a comment carries plain text only, so the gallery is dropped. The check warns you about it.
Choosing images with different proportions. Instagram shows all carousel cards at the same height, so images with different ratios get cropped. Prepare the card images at the same ratio.
Limits
At least 1, at most 10 cards.
At most 3 buttons per card; labels at most 20 characters.
Titles and subtitles at most 80 characters.
Instagram: one message, at most 10 cards (Meta's limit). WhatsApp: as many messages as there are cards.
The gallery is a step that sends messages: it does not go out when the 24-hour window is closed.
Cards that are empty in all three fields are dropped before sending.
Even if the send fails the flow does not stop; the reason goes into the run log.
