Every indicator Meta keeps about your WhatsApp number, and everything your customers see about you, sit on one page: quality rating, how many new people you can message per day, whether your display name is approved, your business details and your approved templates. This guide walks through every box on Account settings › Connection.
⚠️ Only the portfolio's owner and admins see this page. If security settings are configured that way, you may be asked to verify your identity once more before it opens. The indicators and the business profile on this page are not stored: they are read from Meta on every visit, which is why they sometimes take a few seconds.
In this article you will find:
The page is titled Connection, with the line "This account's WhatsApp Business number, business profile, chat link and approved templates." The card under Connection status shows:
💡 Don't look for a countdown or a "renews automatically" line on this card: a WhatsApp access token has no expiry, so the Renew permissions button never appears either.
Right under the card, after a thin divider, your number's status on Meta is listed. When the connection is cut, this section isn't drawn at all. If nothing can be read from Meta it just says "The number's status could not be read from Meta. Refresh the page in a few minutes." Individual rows that can't be read show Unknown.
The grade Meta derives from user feedback over the last 24 hours. It has three values:
How many new people you can start a conversation with in 24 hours. The tiers are 50, 250, 1,000, 10,000, 100,000 and unlimited.
✅ This limit only covers conversations you start. When someone writes to you the counter doesn't move, so you can reply as much as you like to messages in your inbox.
Tells you whether the number runs together with the WhatsApp Business app on a phone. It has two values: "Runs together with WhatsApp Business on the phone" or "Runs from the panel only". On a number that runs together, the same conversation appears both on the phone and in the panel.
Whether the name that will appear as your business name in chats has passed Meta's review: Approved, Not approved or Expired. Until the name is approved, the number stays limited.
The name of the Meta business portfolio your WhatsApp business account belongs to. If it can't be read, the row doesn't appear at all.
It appears only when the connection is broken. Its description: "Until it's reconnected, messages don't arrive and automations don't run. In Meta's window, pick the same WhatsApp Business account and number; your data stays as it is."
The button opens Meta's setup window and accepts only this account's own number. Pick a different number and the panel says "You signed in with a different account" and nothing changes.
The Business profile section lets you edit the "Business info" page a contact opens from the chat screen on WhatsApp. This information is public on WhatsApp. When you save, it is written straight to WhatsApp; a field you leave empty is deleted from WhatsApp too.
The fields:
https://, it is added. When you save, you see the "Business profile saved to WhatsApp" notice. If Meta rejects a field, the error text says which field and why.
⚠️ Note: Business hours are not here and cannot be: the hours you set in the WhatsApp Business app on your phone can neither be read nor changed from the panel. Edit them in that app. The business hours automations use are a separate setting (Account settings › Business hours).
If the profile can't be read from Meta, the section is replaced by "The business profile could not be read from Meta. Refresh the page in a few minutes."
If the connection isn't cut, the page carries a box headed "number name: chat link". Whoever taps that link writes to you on WhatsApp.
Price list. The address and QR code update as you type. When the contact taps the link, their input box arrives filled with that text, and the automation that catches it answers them.wa.me address; the button beside it copies it.If the number can't be read, this box doesn't appear.
The section is headed "number name templates". Templates are the only kind of message you can send when a contact hasn't written for 24 hours; they go through Meta's review.
There are two buttons:
The list is a table with four columns: Template, Language, Status, Variables. The status values are Approved, Pending, Rejected, Paused and Disabled. Only Approved templates can be sent; the others stay in the list so you can see why they can't. The delete button at the end of a row removes the template from Meta.
If the number has no templates, it says "No templates for this number. Create them in Meta Business Manager and refresh here."
You run a parcel tracking service. You connected your number, the Display name review row says "Not approved" and New conversations per day shows "250 new conversations per 24 hours". You fill in the business profile: "Find out where your parcel is in one message" as the about text, Professional services as the category, and your tracking page as the website. Then you use Create template to write a "dispatch notice" template in the Utility category and submit it to Meta. A few hours later you press Refresh templates, the template's status turns Approved, and you start using it in your automation.
If an indicator keeps saying "Unknown" or the profile can't be read, see When a connection breaks or contact our Support team.
