Instagram login connects your Instagram account to {{brand.name}} directly through Instagram: no Facebook Page, no Page admin rights, no Facebook account. In the panel the button reads Connect with Instagram, and once connected the account's connection card says Instagram login.
💡 This path works only with business and creator Instagram accounts. If your account is still a personal account in the Instagram app, switch it to a professional account in Instagram's own settings first, then connect.
What this path gives you
On an account connected with Instagram login, {{brand.name}} can:
Receive and answer incoming DMs. The moment someone writes to you, the message lands in your inbox.
Run automations. Keyword, first message and default reply triggers all work on these messages.
See, reply to and privately answer comments. Automatic replies to post and reel comments go out with this permission.
Receive live video comments.
Catch story replies and mentions. A mention is not a separate notification; it arrives inside the comments notification and {{brand.name}} separates it out.
Publish and schedule posts.
Read insights.
See button taps, quick replies, read receipts and reactions.
See ad and link referrals. If a chat started from an ad or from a tagged link, that information reaches your flow.
The token that renews itself
Instagram issues an access token that is valid for 60 days. {{brand.name}} fetches a fresh one 10 days before it expires, in the background, with nothing for you to do. The connection card shows this as:
Renews automatically · next renewal: date
Why not wait until the last day? Instagram only extends a token that is still valid. An expired token cannot be renewed, and at that point the account drops to Needs reconnecting and you have to sign in again by hand. Those ten days are the buffer that lets the system recover from a hiccup.
If renewal genuinely fails — say the permission was revoked on Instagram's side — the account switches to the Renewal due badge 3 days before expiry. If you see that badge, don't wait for it to heal itself; open the account's Connection page and press Renew permissions.
This path is the right choice in most of these situations:
Your Instagram account has no linked Facebook Page, or you don't manage the Page.
You have no access to the Facebook account, don't know its password, or someone else runs it.
You are connecting a single Instagram account.
You don't want maintenance work: the self-renewing token matters to you.

A concrete example
Say you run a pastry shop and every order arrives through Instagram DMs. Your Instagram account is a business account, but you opened your Facebook Page years ago and no longer remember the login. Instagram login is exactly right here: from your portfolio's Connect account screen you press Connect with Instagram, sign in on Instagram's permission screen and grant the permissions. Seconds later the account opens, the first DM lands in the inbox, and you can build the automation that answers the keyword "price".
Limits and things to know
One account, one identity. In {{brand.name}} an account maps to exactly one Instagram identity. A second Instagram account becomes a second account and uses one slot of your portfolio's account allowance.
The same Instagram account is connected in one place only. If the account already sits in another portfolio of yours, the panel offers "Go there" or "Move here"; if it belongs to someone else's portfolio, you only see "This account is connected somewhere else". Details: This account is connected somewhere else.
There is no m.me link on this path. The chat link is built from your Instagram username on ig.me. Accounts connected through a Facebook Page also get a working m.me link.
Permissions are requested at connection time. A permission added later is not in the old token, and in that case the account has to be reconnected once. So if a feature says "waiting for permission", renew the account's permissions first.
Meta's approval status applies here too. Until the app is approved on Instagram's side, only messages from people with a role on that app are delivered. This is a restriction on Meta's side, not in {{brand.name}}; see The Meta app and App Review.
What connecting does not change
Connecting does not change your Instagram account. Your followers, posts, stories and the Instagram app on your phone stay exactly as they are. You can keep writing DMs from the phone; those messages show up in the panel too. When you disconnect, nothing is deleted on Instagram's side — {{brand.name}} simply stops receiving new events.
Instagram login is the path that keeps the connection alive with the least maintenance: you set it up once, the system renews the token, and you only deal with the inbox.
