My insights look empty

If the Insights screen shows no numbers, check the measurement permission, the sync round, when the archive started and Meta's 48-hour delay in order.

You opened Insights and the boxes are empty, or everything shows a dash. Insights come from Meta's own measurements; the panel pulls them in an hourly maintenance round and keeps them in its own archive. There are several reasons the numbers may not show, and most resolve themselves with time. This guide helps you work out which one you are in.

⚠️ Note: Insights are for Instagram accounts only. Meta does not offer these measurements on WhatsApp, so the section does not appear on WhatsApp accounts at all.

You may be seeing one of these situations:

The screen says Meta's measurement permission has not been approved yet.
The screen says measurements are pulled in an hourly round.
Recent days are missing or look low.
Insights does not appear in the menu at all.

A concrete example: a shop checks its insights on the evening of a campaign day and finds reach far lower than expected. Rather than panicking, they reopen the same period three days later and see the numbers have doubled. Meta delays measurements by up to 48 hours; the number you read on the evening of the campaign is never the final one.

So review campaigns on the third day at the earliest, and always compare periods with the same delay; putting yesterday next to last week gives a misleading result.

Read the status note on the screen

An empty screen always carries an explanation line; read that first.

"Meta's measurement permission has not been approved yet." The account has not yet been granted permission to read measurements. Data starts arriving by itself once it is approved; until then the section looks empty. There is nothing for you to do.
"Measurements are pulled in an hourly maintenance round." If the account was just connected, the first numbers appear shortly. Wait an hour.
"No records yet." The archive has not started. A line at the bottom of the page tells you the day records have been kept from.
"No measurements to comment on in this period." There is no data in the range you picked; widen it.

Allow for Meta's delay

Meta does not report measurements instantly, and this applies to every tool.

Measurements can be delayed by up to 48 hours. The screen says so too: recent days can fill in later.
Yesterday's and today's numbers can look low; open the same period again a few days later and they will have filled in.
This is why "Last 7 days" and "Last 28 days" can show ratios that do not line up.
If the follower count at the start of the period is unknown, the panel says so and does not calculate a change.

Refresh the numbers yourself

If you do not want to wait, you can start the sync yourself.

Open the Insights screen.
Press Refresh at the top right.
Wait for the confirmation that the numbers were refreshed from Meta.
If it says the numbers were just refreshed, the refresh runs once every ten minutes to protect Meta's quota; try again shortly.
If it says a sync for this account is already running, wait; the numbers update by themselves when it finishes.
If it says the numbers could not be refreshed because the Instagram connection is down, repair the connection first. Your archived history keeps showing in the meantime.

If post measurements are missing

The Posts tab works separately and has its own rules.

Go to Insights › Posts.
If it says there are no posts to show for this account, the account has no posts or the list has not been fetched yet.
If a post says it is awaiting measurement, Meta has not reported numbers for it yet; that is normal for new posts.
Change the sort order (reach, views, interactions, date) to see whether the data really is empty.
Clear the caption search box; the search may be narrowing the list.

That is a permissions problem, not a data problem.

The Insights section follows the access policy the portfolio owner sets. By default it is closed for the Editor, Agent and Viewer roles, because account-wide Meta measurements are treated as management information.
Owners and admins always see it.
The portfolio owner can open it from the role policies on Portfolio settings › Chat assignment rules.
While the section is closed, typing the address by hand does not help either; the page does not open. See a team member cannot see a screen.

Other known issues and limits

The archive is not backfilled. The panel only stores what happens after you connect; periods before that stay empty.
The AI commentary is a separate feature. A note saying there is no commentary for this period does not mean the data is empty; generating one requires automation editing rights.
Demographic breakdowns are hidden on sparse data. Meta withholds gender and age splits when the number of people is small.
Story measurements are short-lived. Meta only offers story numbers for a limited time.
The last sync time is on screen. The "last sync" line tells you how fresh the numbers you are looking at are.
You can pick a custom period. Alongside the preset ranges you can set your own start and end dates; if the range reaches back before the archive started, those days stay empty, and that is not a fault.
Post analysis is a separate page. Tapping a post in the list opens its own measurements; even when the dashboard looks empty, individual post pages can hold data.
