Which switches apply immediately and which wait for period end, how the unused time credit is calculated, when your quotas change and how to undo a scheduled change.
You want to move up or down a plan, and what you really want to know is "do I lose the money I paid, and when does it take effect?" {{brand.name}} sorts every switch into one of four types and behaves differently for each: an upgrade applies at once, a downgrade waits for period end. This guide explains which applies when, and how the amount you pay is produced.

Which switch is which type
You do not choose the type; the button on the plan card tells you. The rule is:
Moving to a higher plan → upgrade (button: Upgrade).
Same plan, monthly to yearly → upgrade (button: Switch to yearly).
Moving to a lower plan → downgrade (button: Switch at period end).
Yearly to monthly, whatever the plan → downgrade.
Same plan, same period → renewal, or current plan.
If you have no paid period (you are on the free plan, in a trial, or your subscription has ended), every paid plan is a new purchase for you and the button reads Buy. In that state there is no such thing as a downgrade; the plan you pick starts as soon as the payment is confirmed.
⚠️ Note: A yearly period is never split. If you want to return to monthly while on a yearly plan, the switch is scheduled for period end even when the target plan is more expensive. The time you paid for yearly is yours and is not shortened.
Upgrade: it applies at once
On an upgrade, the remainder of the period you paid for is not wasted. The checkout screen shows a row called Unused time credit: the value of the days you have not used yet, taken off the new order's subtotal.
The calculation is day-based: the day you are in counts as used, and the remaining full days are prorated. On day 12 of a 30-day period, the value of the remaining 18 days is deducted. The credit can never exceed what you paid.
Tap Upgrade on the higher plan's card on the Plan tab.
Read the line in the What happens next? block: "Your new plan starts as soon as the payment is confirmed; the unused {amount} of your current period was deducted."
Confirm the Total in the summary.
Choose a payment method, accept the agreements and press Place order.
Complete the payment. Your new plan starts that moment and a new period opens.
An upgrade starts a new period: the old end date stops applying, and the new period runs one month (or one year) from the day of payment.
For the unused time credit to be calculable, the upgrade has to be made in your subscription's currency. That is why no currency strip appears on the checkout screen for upgrade and renewal orders.
Downgrade: it applies at period end
A downgrade needs no payment and is not applied immediately. You keep using your current plan with its full allowances until the period ends.
Tap Switch at period end on the lower plan's card.
Read the confirmation the panel asks for: "Your current plan runs until {date}; on that day you move to the {plan} ({monthly/yearly}) plan. Continue?"
Confirm. The screen says "Your plan change will apply at the end of the period."
An information box joins the Your plan block: "You will move to the {plan} ({monthly/yearly}) plan on {date}." The card also gets a Switching at period end badge.
If the target is the free plan, this is not a downgrade but a cancellation, and the confirmation says so: "Your subscription ends on {date} and you move to the free plan. Your data is not deleted." The details are in Cancelling a subscription and refunds.
When you schedule a downgrade, the renewal order already opened for that period is dropped and reopened with the new plan, so the wrong amount is never requested at period end. You also receive a "plan change scheduled" email.
Undoing a scheduled change
Tap the Undo button beside the scheduled change; the screen reads "The scheduled change was removed; your current plan continues." and your current plan keeps renewing.
The single exception is when the next period has already been paid for that new plan. Then the Undo button is not drawn at all, because a paid period cannot be taken back: when that period starts, the plan you paid for applies.
When your quotas change
Quotas change the moment the plan takes effect, not the moment an order is opened.
On an upgrade, the new limits open the second the payment is confirmed. You can connect a new account, add someone to the team, publish more automations.
On a downgrade, the new limits apply at period end. Nothing is restricted until that day.
When a limit drops, your existing usage is not deleted. If the new plan allows three accounts and you have five, all five stay connected and working; only connecting a sixth is refused. The same rule holds for contacts, automations, team seats and media storage.
Features, by contrast, close at once: an automation run that reaches a step the new plan does not cover stops at that step. Your automation is not deleted, but that flow does not finish. It is worth reviewing which steps your flows use before you downgrade.
Your AI credits follow the new plan's value too; your monthly window does not move, only the total inside it changes.
Renewal and early renewal
If you are staying on the same plan and want to extend the period, the button reads Renew early when the period end is near and Renew once the period has ended. If the end is still far off, no button appears at all; the card carries only the Current plan badge.
Renewing early loses you no days: the new period starts when the current one ends. A box joins the Your plan block: "The next period is paid; your subscription is valid until {date}."
If your subscription was set up with the payment provider's own subscription product, manual renewal is not offered; the provider renews the period itself and the card stays marked Current plan. This prevents the same period being charged twice.
Limits
A downgrade cannot be made mid-period. The panel does not open it as an order; it only schedules it for period end.
A paid next period cannot be taken back. You can neither undo the scheduled change nor cancel that period.
Renewals and upgrades are made in your subscription's currency. To change currency you have to wait for the current period to end.
A switch between two equally ranked plans counts as an upgrade if it is monthly to yearly, and as a downgrade in every other case.
If your user account is scheduled for deletion, no plan change is possible; the panel shows "This plan change is not possible right now" or the deletion warning.
If you cannot see the button you expected, first check your Monthly / Yearly selection and your status badge; if the problem persists, contact our Support team.
