Portfolio settings: General

If the account switcher says "Unnamed portfolio", or your portfolio name no longer describes your business, this is where you fix it. Portfolio settings › General has a single field: the portfolio's name. It is a small screen, but that name surfaces in several places in the panel and in outgoing e-mails, so it is worth getting right.

⚠️ The portfolio owner and its admins can open this screen; only the owner can change the name. As an admin the field renders disabled with the note "Only the portfolio owner can change this." Editors, agents and viewers cannot open the Portfolio settings area at all.

What it is for

A portfolio is the box that holds your accounts and your team. Its name is the label you recognise that box by. The screen's description lists where it appears: "The portfolio's name shows in the account switcher, in team invitations and in e-mails."

Taking those one by one:

• The account switcher. Open the switcher at the top left and portfolios are listed by name, with their accounts grouped underneath. With more than one portfolio, this name is what gets you to the right account.
• Team invitations. When you invite someone, the portfolio's name appears in the invitation e-mail. That is how the invitee knows what they are being called into.
• The panel's e-mails. Notifications about the portfolio (deletion schedule, team changes) carry the name.

The name also shows in a few more places inside the panel: it is the group heading of the Portfolio settings menu, it appears as a row in My user settings › My portfolios, and the "My working hours" sections on My user settings › Profile use it to say which portfolio they belong to.

How to reach the screen

1. Open the account switcher at the top left.
2. Click the gear icon next to the name of the portfolio you want to configure.
3. Pick General from the menu.

The entrance to portfolio settings goes to the first item your role can see; for owners and admins that is General anyway.

Renaming the portfolio

1. Type the new name into the Portfolio name field. It arrives pre-filled with the current name.
2. Click Save.

A "Portfolio name saved." notice appears and the name updates everywhere immediately; you don't have to refresh the account switcher.

Field rules
