In {{brand.name}} settings live in three separate places: account settings, portfolio settings and your own user settings. This explains what goes where and who can open each one.
If you can't find a setting, it isn't your fault: {{brand.name}} does not gather everything on one page. Settings are split across three areas. This article explains what those areas are, which setting lives in which one, and which role can open each — so next time you go straight to the right place.
Why there are three areas
The panel holds settings that belong to three different things, and they are kept apart so they don't get mixed up:
Account — one connected Instagram account or one WhatsApp number. Business hours, saved replies and messaging behaviour belong to that account and do not touch your other accounts.
Portfolio — the box that holds your accounts and your team. Team, conversation assignment rules, AI keys and logs belong to the portfolio and apply to every account inside it.
User — your personal record. Your name, password, interface language, plan and invoices belong to you and don't change from one portfolio to another.
In practice this split answers one question: "if I change this, who does it affect?" An account setting affects that account only, a portfolio setting affects every account, a user setting affects only you.
Account settings
This is the area that opens when you click Settings in the left menu. The menu group is titled This account and shows the settings of whichever account is currently open. To change another account's settings, switch to it in the account switcher first.
The items, in order:
Connection — the account's Instagram or WhatsApp connection, permissions and templates. Owners and admins only.
Business hours — your opening schedule and what happens outside it. See Business hours.
Messaging — typing indicator, read receipts, handing conversations back to automation. See Messaging settings.
Saved replies — the canned answers you call with "/" in the inbox. See Saved replies.
Move to another portfolio — visible to the portfolio owner only.
Delete this account — visible to the portfolio owner only.
💡 An item you can't see in the menu does not exist for you — it is not merely hidden. Typing its address gets you nowhere. There are three possible reasons: your role lacks the permission, the account's channel type doesn't need that setting, or the portfolio is scheduled for deletion.
When you click Settings, the panel takes you to the first screen your role can see. So an owner may land on Connection while an agent lands straight on Saved replies. Both are correct.
Portfolio settings
Open the account switcher and you will see a gear icon next to the portfolio name. That is the door to portfolio settings. Only the portfolio owner and its admins can open this area; editors, agents and viewers never see the gear.
The items:
General — the portfolio's name.
Accounts — every account in the portfolio, its connection health and your account allowance.
Team — invitations, members, roles, account access.
Conversation assignment rules — role-based visibility and how new conversations are distributed.
AI keys — your own provider keys.
Connections — the external service connections used by outbound request steps in your flows.
Usage — plan limits and this period's AI usage.
Logs — who changed what and when in this portfolio.
Delete portfolio — owner only.
All of these apply to every account in the portfolio. For example, when you decide an agent should only see their own conversations, that rule works identically in every account there.
My user settings
Click your user card at the bottom left. The area is called My user settings and it is entirely yours: it needs no permission, it works even if you have no portfolio at all, and it opens even when your portfolios are locked for deletion.
The items:
Profile — your name, your e-mail and separate working hours for each portfolio.
Preferences — interface language, theme, Enter behaviour, which account opens at login.
Plan and invoices — your plan, AI credit, billing details, orders.
My portfolios — portfolios you own and portfolios you are a team member of.
My agreements — the documents you accepted and your marketing consent.
Delete my user account.
⚠️ The plan belongs to your user account, not to a portfolio. All portfolios you own use the same plan. That is why upgrading is done in My user settings, not in Portfolio settings.
Deciding where to look
Ask yourself one question: who does this setting bind?
Only the Instagram account or WhatsApp number currently open → Account settings.
The team, all accounts, or the portfolio's day-to-day arrangement → Portfolio settings.
Only you (appearance, password, plan) → My user settings.
A concrete example: a bakery has two Instagram accounts and one WhatsApp number, all in one portfolio. To mark a public holiday for the branch account only, the owner goes to Account settings › Business hours. To give a new hire access to all three accounts, they go to Portfolio settings › Team. To use the panel in dark mode, they go to My user settings › Preferences.
Old addresses and bookmarks
As the panel grew, some settings moved. If you bookmarked an old address, don't worry: the panel forwards you to the new place and keeps the query in the address bar. What moved:
Display → My user settings › Preferences
Security and Profile → My user settings
My agreements → My user settings › My agreements
Subscription, Orders, Billing details → My user settings › Plan and invoices
Team and Logs → Portfolio settings
Integrations → Portfolio settings › AI keys
Common mistakes
Setting business hours on one account and assuming they apply everywhere. Business hours are an account setting. With three accounts you set them three times.
Looking for the team in account settings. The team belongs to the portfolio; accounts have no team setting.
Looking for the plan upgrade inside a portfolio. The plan is your user's. Portfolio settings › Usage only shows what the plan grants and what has been consumed; it does not change the plan.
Mistaking another account's settings for the open one's. The This account heading in the menu tells you where you are. Check it before you change anything.
